The Process of Finding Your Best Matches

Finding that “special someone” doesn’t happen in a test tube—it’s a process. One that you need to fully participate in. Just because you have physical chemistry with someone doesn’t mean you’ll fall in love with them, or even like them!

We do believe that chemistry is extremely important in any romantic relationship. In fact, we’re convinced that without it, a long-term relationship should not be considered.

However, we also believe that chemistry is only one part of a successful relationship.

We use three components in our search for your best matches. In addition to chemistry matching, personality or values matching is another key ingredient. (You can read about that, here.) Our personal preferences section is the third.

The most important part is up to you. Once we present you with your matches, you need to choose which ones, as overall human beings, interest you the most. Communicate with them. Who makes you think? Who makes you laugh? Who do you look forward to hearing from the most? Current scientific knowledge can only take us so far—the rest is up to you.

Your Personal Preferences:

The personal preferences section allows you to tell us more about who you’re looking for. It includes things like age range and distance from where you live.

You can see a sample personal preferences form by clicking here.

One of the unique features we offer in this section is the “one year rule”. Some relationship experts agree that, in order to fully “let go” of serious relationships, we need at least one year without a “significant other” in our lives. For people who were married, it means one year from the date that the divorce was legally finalized. So, if you want to meet only those people who have a reduced risk of “emotional baggage,” then you can choose the one year rule as a filter.

The Process of Finding Chemistry:

For you, finding your chemical matches is the easy part.

When you first sign up to join our service, we send you a DNA collection kit, the main component of which is a sterilized packet of cotton swabs.

You rub the swabs on the insides of you cheeks. It's quick, easy, and painless.

Drop the swabs into the pre-addressed envelope, and send them off to our laboratory.

Probably the most complicated part of the process is writing your customer number on the envelope. In order to protect your security and anonymity, nobody in the laboratory ever knows who you are. The only way they can refer to you is with your customer number. Typically, nobody in our organization ever knows your name and your customer number at the same time. Only our computers ever link the two together. That's why you have to write your customer number on your DNA envelope. Our computers generate the relationship, and they send the customer number directly to you, in an email. You then write your customer number on the envelope. Our lab technicians upload your number and your DNA results together, when our computers then associate your DNA results back with your dating profile.

None of your DNA information is ever posted in your profile—it's only used to generate your matches.

Also, we never look at your full DNA profile. We only look at the small fraction that defines your immune system.

It can take up to two weeks to process your DNA.

That's it: When you sign up at ScientificMatch, we send you the swabs and an email with your customer number. You write your customer number on the DNA envelope and rub the inside of your mouth with the swabs. Put the swabs in the envelope, and drop it in the mail. Your DNA analysis will be done in about two weeks, when you should see your matches on your ScientificMatch home page.
